Famous Patents: Velcro®


George de Mestral filed in 1952 a US patent application related to a velvet type fabric.
This fabric comprised two surfaces, one of velvet type and the other provided with hooks.
This fabric is now known as VELCRO®, a composition of the French words "velour" (velvet) and "crochet" (hook).
The patent was granted in September, 13th, 1955 and was published as US-2.717.437.
